Verleihung des NRW-MEDIENPREIS FÜR ENTWICKLUNGSPOLITISCHES ENGAGEMENT 2025 im Filmpalast Köln am 15.10.2025.

Preisträger:innen und Laudator:innen bei der Verleihung des NRW Medienpreis für entwicklungspolitisches Engagement 2025 am 15.10.2025 im Kino 7 des Filmpalasts in Köln.

Ich war diese Woche im Rahmen des Cologne Film Festivals auf der Preisverleihung des NRW Medienpreis für entwicklungspolitisches Engagement eingeladen.

1. Platz: “Besser jetzt als Peter“, Social-Media-Kampagne von Greenpeace e.V. gegen Tiefsee-Bergbau.
2. Platz: “Ready to Recycle“, KI-generierte Social-Media-Kampagne von MBRC the Ocean gGmbH für Sammlung und Recycling von Plastikmüll an Küsten.
3. Platz: “Road to Freedom – Auf den Spuren der Befreiung“, Historytelling zur Route der US-Armee von den D-Day-Stränden bis nach Mitteldeutschland, produziert von Capa-Haus Leipzig x Leon Ziegler x Roofless Cat

Die zehn Finalisten und drei Gewinner zeigten mit ihren Social-Media-Kampagnen und -Produktionen, dass mediale Emotionen eine emotionale Macht für das Gute und Wichtige in Gesellschaft und Umwelt entfalten können. Und vom berührt sein gelingt uns dann vielleicht der Schritt, selbst etwas in der Welt zu berühren und ins Handeln für Andere, für die Welt – und damit wiederum für uns selbst zu kommen. Das wird möglich, wenn wir einander die Hand reichen. Katharina van Bronswijk von Psychologists For Future brachte das in ihrer Keynote für den Abend auf den Punkt, von dem das Miteinander, das die Große Transformation so dringend als Kick-Starter braucht, ausgehen kann: Das rationale Verständnis von Fakten („Was ist los in der Welt?“) ist genauso wichtig wie das emotionale Verständnis für Einander („Wie geht es uns in der Welt?“). Eine Hand reichen reicht als Anfang!

Through this straight & basal communication link music pours itself directly into your inner world and experience, stiring up powerful emotions. Your emotions.You don’t have to understand the communication that music pours into the cut. You feel it. And thus you understand it. You understand it in your world, you unterstand it in you.

For years I have sought to create such a direct communication link for scientific communication. To carry on Carl Sagan after he was gone (even if we still have Neil deGrasse Tyson around), make Contact with others (even if they are not “ready to go!”), to save the world for everyone (even if it’s the game for real). We fused emotional storytelling and scientific simulation in video games to let people get in interaction with scientific/systemic knowledge by letting them touch a virtual world and maybe even letting them being touched by a virtual world – a virtual world that could be possibly yours (think of ownership in Minecraft). Maybe that was the error: We created worlds for you instead of letting “it” directly rain onto the soul-soil of your world. Maybe simulation is not the solution to save the real world. Maybe it’s music. Music gives me soul-shivers – simulation does not. No one wants to read Simulacra & Simulation by Jean Baudrillard, but everyone has seen Matrix.
