Schutzraum

Vorgestern Nacht laufe ich an der russischen Botschaft unter den Linden in Berlin vorbei. Es ist sehr still, ich wechsle die Strassenseite: Absperrungen schaffen einen Schutzraum für die Regierungsvertretung Russlands. Ein Schutzraum für eine Regierung, die seit einem Jahr Raketen in die Schlafzimmer von Menschen feuert, um sie dort schutzlos im Schlaf zu töten. Ich bleibe wütend davor stehen, doch dann denke ich: Diese Absperrungen zum Schutz der Botschaft sind wichtig. Sie sind ein Zeichen von Zivilisation.

The future is past now.

Fifty years ago, in 1973, the SCI-FI movie “Solyent Green” showed our parents a dystopian vision of the future – a future which had failed to reach the promised land of endless growth & eternal progress. The movie showed the brutal cutting of the narrative thread that had been unfolded for us in the maze of the modern era ever since. Now, fifty years later, we know that this thread had been cut somewhere in the late 70s. We know that the promise of progress & prosperity that was made to our parents has been broken. We know now that this promise even never was valid. We know that we have lost our way. But we and our parents keep on following the lose end of the thread and by doing so we stole our future and the future of our children. We thought we would be on a line of progression, on the fast lane of progress in modern times. But we were going nowhere. We were going in circles all the time – and today, today we are arriving in 1973.

2023: RWE Energy delivers on time.

Nature / Culture extinction

Ich liebe die Kunst, Menschen & die Natur. Ihr auch, #JustStopOil. Deswegen macht ihr das. Van Gogh wäre stolz auf euch & würde sich geehrt fühlen, wäre er Zeitgenosse. Wie er in seinen Bildern die Wirklichkeit mit anderen Augen sah, müssen wir heute sehen, dass die Wirklichkeit selbst gefährdet ist.

I love the arts, humans and nature. You, too, #JustStopOil. That‘s the reason why you did this. If #VanGogh would have lived in our times, he would have been proud of you and he would have felt honoured by you. He saw reality differently in his paintings, just like we have to see today, that reality itself is in danger.

Nolite te bastardes carborundum!

Facebook handed the private messages between a mother and daughter discussing how to obtain abortion pills to local Nebraska police (see the Lincoln Journal Star). According to reports the 17-year-old daughter was more than 20 weeks pregnant. In Nebraska, abortions are illegal after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Both mother and daughter are now “facing criminal charges for allegedly carrying out an illegal abortion” (The Guardian).

Just last week, a lawsuit alleged that Meta has used people’s medical data without permission for targeted ads on Facebook (see Insider).

“Another world is possible!”

On February 24th. 2022, the Russian Army attacked Ukraine.

We must not continue the geopolitical fossil-fuel driven reign over this planet and its people. We must not continue the history and legacy of the 20th. century written with the stains and scars of dirty oil and greedy business into the souls, soil, seas and skies of this planet. The 20th. century had been both an astonishing and awful civilisatory rollercoaster. We cannot continue it. For it only will bring us more wars and fiercer destruction to the people and the planet.

Another world is possible! For Ukrainians. For Humanity. End the era of fossil fuel & wars!
